High Holiday Childcare and Youth Programming

Children are an integral part of the Torat Emet Family!
You will find that the sound of children's laughter and voices are normal during our services.  Having said this, it is important that our children, and everyone attending services, are given a safe environment in which to share their holiday experience.

All children's programs will begin at 10AM and end at the last shofar blowing on Rosh Hashanah and at 2 PM on Yom Kippur.

• Babies through Kindergarten:  Supervised play, story time and childcare will take place in the toddler room. 
• Grades 1-2: will have holiday specific activities and supervised play in Saul and Sonia's place downstairs.  Weather permitting, the children will play outside after an enhanced snack.
• Grades 3-5: will have tefillah, holiday specific activities and supervised play in the Youth Lounge downstairs.  Weather permitting, the children will play outside after an enhanced snack.
• Extensive Snack will be provided for all children on both days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur; if your child has any special dietary needs, please contact the shul ahead of time so that we can make arrangements for your child to have that he or she can safely enjoy.
• We ask that you make yourself available in case your child needs you during services. Remember, though childcare and children's services are available, children are ultimately the responsibility of their parents.
• Childcare leaders will have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for unruly, disrespectful and overly disruptive children, and will not be responsible for attending to them.  Children who are unable to handle the childcare environment will be brought to their parents for supervision for the rest of the service.  Remember, care of your child is your responsibility.  Our goal is to make the servie and youth programs meaningful, safe and welcoming for EVERYONE.
• Strollers are NOT permitted in the main sanctuary.  THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.  We ask that you respect the ushers when they request that you not bring a stroller into the sanctuary.
• Stroller parking will be made available.  Please check with an usher if you cannot determine a proper place to store your stroller.  Strollers may be moved to another area at the synagogue during services for the safety of everyone in attendance.
• Parent and teen volunteers are still needed to run some of the services and childcare, and to help with snacks and lunches.  Please contact the office if you or your teen can help.
• Our TEENS are an integral part of our High Holiday programs.  They are responsible and caring, and always eager to step in whenever and wherever we need them.  We have many youth leaders set up to run the groups for our younger children.  If you know that your child is interested in helping out, please have him or her contact Rabbi Neuman.
• Children love talking with the security officers on the holidays, and we encourage all of our congregants and guests to thank them for being there to protect us.  However, they are posted at the synagogue to perform a VERY important safety function. We ask that you and/or your children not distract them from that function, so that they are able to perform their duties to the fullest.
