About a month and a half ago Rick & Terri Barnett, Taz Mayerhoff & Victoria Ilin went to the OU communities fair as Torat Emet Jewish community representatives. Since then we have been working with them to target and invite various families to check out Columbus for a visit. This is one of the many ways we are working to grow the Columbus community. The first family scheduled to visit is the Coleman family from Washington Heights. On shabbos monring January 25th Anat and her son Akiva will be at Torat Emet and we encourage everyone to make it a priority to come welcome a potential new family! Let's grow Columbus together! Thank you for your time and support.
Over the past five years Torat Emet has had a special relationship with Maagalim, an Israeli non-profit social services organization that works with at risk high school teenagers in low performing school districts who lack the self-esteem and positive reinforcement necessary to succeed as adults. Ma’agalim trains and provides highly spirited, post-military volunteers who function as advisors and counselors to these teens through their high school and post military years.
Maagalim functions in over 90 high schools and with post military graduates throughout Israel. 10 million shekels out of their 16 million shekel budget is provided by the Israeli Ministry of Education.
However, as there is currently no formal functioning government in Israel due to the election impasse, there are no distributions being made to non-governmental organizations including Maagalim. As a result Maagalim is desperately short of operational funding.
In order to fill the gap and keep Maagalim solvent through this difficult time, they will be holding an emergency $1=$2 match campaign beginning from now until Monday evening. I urge you to support this campaign and make a contribution today.

Torat Emet is excited to be part of the Life & Legacy Initiative sponsored by the Howard Grinspoon Foundation and Jewish Columbus. The objective is building endowments to help ensure our Jewish future for generations to come.

The High Street Community is a project sponsored by Jonathan and Nicole Schottenstein, and led by Rabbi Ari Neuman, for young professionals looking for meaningful Jewish experiences and fun ways to meet other young Jewish adults. The program's goal is to help its participants learn about Judaism in a way that is exciting, enjoyable, open, and welcoming to others no matter their background. For more information, or to sign up for HSC events and e-mails, please contact Rabbi Neuman at rabbineuman@toratemet.org or call the office at 614-238-6778.
