Congregation Torat Emet is excited to announce that Chazan Dovid Weinberg will once again be leading the congregation in High Holiday services. Chazan Weinberg certainly lives up to his reputation for the ability to combine popular melodies and traditional chazanut. Born in Jerusalem, Chazan Weinberg studied nusach with his father, Rabbi Noftoli Weinberg, and with the world-renown chazan Moshe Stern.
He is the permanent chazan at Congregation Ohel Yitzhak in Jerusalem and a guest chazzan at the Great Synagogue in Yerushalim, the Yeshurun Synagogue and other congregations throughout Israel. Chazan Weinberg is often called to synagogues and programs in Europe and in other cities in the U.S. Prior to his work at Torat Emet, he led the High Holiday Services at Congregation Shaarei Tfilah in L.A. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife Bracha and their children. When not busy with Chazanut he works in advertising.
Lulav & Etrog It's that time of year again! In order that you may fulfill the mitzvah of Lulav and Etrog as it is written in the Torah, "and you shall take on the first day, the fruit of the tree and branches of palm trees and a bough of the tree Avot and willows of the brook and you shall rejoice before the Lord your G-d seven days," we recommend you order your set through the Mitzvah Depot, mitzvahdepot@gmail.com or 614-706-2714.
Women are encouraged to purchase their own lulav & etrog set as we will once again hold a Women's Hoshanot service on Yom Tov.
In addition, we will have a Torah reading for women on Simchat Torah morning.

Rabbi Zack recommends:
Dear Friend, Please read the introduction by Alex Israel and then click the link below to hear a most inspiring collaborative song that captures the essence of Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur. Rabbi Zack
Alex Israel September 23 at 4:58 PM · If politics here in Israel pits religious and secular as opponents and polar opposites, everyday living and particularly the music scene here reveal a landscape in which religious and secular have far more overlap, with much common ground, as both groups are not really separate; rather, they inhabit a continuum which we all share. In this new song, music superstar singer-songwriter Amir Dadon and actor-singer-former-secular-now-Breslover, Shuli Rand, team up in a song which speaks of how: "I live between the holy and the mundane; truth goes wild inside me...from where I come, there is no peace..." and it ends: "Protect me; Only that my feet not stumble." Is this a song or a prayer? Is this about a religious person or a secular one? Is this about all Jews wherever they sit on the spectrum? - we all live between the holy and the mundane, we all struggle with truth, life etc. This is an inspiration and a wonderful collaboration. I am depressed by politics, but elevated and enthralled by Israeli society as our artists demonstrate again and again that we share way more than divides us: that we are indeed all members of the same family. This "prayer" is a great way to enter Rosh Hashanna. "Between the holy and the mundane, I live; In the truth that goes wild inside me; With a thousand habits. With all the fear that my shoulders carry, I go out to scatter the words ...this journey is heavy, and a little too much for me; I need to grow from this, and then - enough! To grow from this, and then - enough! Protect me; Only that my feet not stumble."
