Safety & Security Corner
There is a lot of activity related to safety and security at Torat Emet these days. The Grants Committee continues to be a driving force in coordinating improvements to our physical infrastructure, for example, by managing camera and electrical system upgrades. Similarly, grant funding was used to purchase equipment needed for our CSS team. The Grants Committee continues to submit applications for new funding to support other safety and security needs in the synagogue. They are really doing a great job!
At the same time, no amount of upgrades to our physical infrastructure can replace the human element. We need to continue instilling a culture of security to protect one-another, while still maintaining our warm, friendly, and welcoming community. Both goals can be addressed by simply saying “hello” to someone. We invite you to read more about this via the following document: https://tinyurl.com/Power-of-Hello
Finally, it is important that we all know what to do in an emergency. We have scheduled an Active Shooter Training session for Sunday, June 11th, at 9 - 11 am. The session will be led by Steve Flowers, JewishColumbus’ Director of Community-Wide Security. Please use the link below to register. We strongly encourage everyone to attend this training, with the hopes that we will never need it.
Missing Blue Puffer Jacket Someone mistakenly took the wrong blue puffer jacket last week. Kindly return it to the synagogue as it has sentimental value to the owner. The blue puffer jacket left at the shul has a recent Lowe’s receipt in the pocket. The one inadvertently taken has a half zipper off to one side.
Join the New Chesed Committee! Dear Fellow Congregants,
It would be my privilege to partner with you, the Torah Emet Community, in designing and executing a most holy mission.
It is my hope to work together to build ongoing support for our members in times of sickness, stress and loss through acts of Chesed. As a start, I am asking for volunteers to help design effective strategies to connect our community members with opportunities for service. The range of needs are of course vast, encompassing Bikur Cholim, Meals, Regular Check-ins, Social Action and so much more.
Would you like to get real time Torat Emet notifications, hear about volunteer opportunities, and share cheerful tidings and thoughts with fellow Torat Emet members here and in Israel?
Have meaningful and uplifting social and informational conversations (no politics allowed) with your Torat Emet friends. We look forward to hearing from you.
