Safety & Security Corner
The safety and security of our community requires participation by our community. The Torat Emet Safety and Security Committee has been working with other synagogues and organizations in Columbus, and beyond, to share information and best practices, and to keep one-another informed about potentially concerning security issues. Importantly, we have been working with Jewish Columbus' new Director of Community-Wide Security, Stephen Flowers, who has been instrumental in coordinating these efforts.
We are pleased that we will have an opportunity to introduce Mr. Flowers to the Torat Emet community on Saturday, January 21, 2023. He will tell us about himself and his role at Jewish Columbus, and will stay afterwards to meet the community more informally at kiddush.
Finally, we have scheduled a special training session, called Entry Point, with Community Security Service on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 7:30 pm. This will be a live interactive virtual session via Zoom and is open to all of our congregants. This training will help you to better identify security threats and recognize suspicious behavior. We strongly encourage everyone to sign-up for this session via the email that was sent out this week. This is an easy way for our community to participate in our security efforts and to help keep ourselves, and one-another, safe.
Torat Emet Book Club Torat Emet's book group will convene to read and discuss Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel's Sabbath. We will divide the book into three parts. Our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 23 at 7:00 pm. If you're interested in participating, please contact Betsey Lane ebetsey@yahoo.com.
Chesed Request Former congregant Chad Friedman recently announced that he is in need of a kidney transplant. If you are interested in seeing if you can help as a donor match, go to renewal.org.
Would you like to get real time Torat Emet notifications, hear about volunteer opportunities, and share cheerful tidings and thoughts with fellow Torat Emet members here and in Israel?
Have meaningful and uplifting social and informational conversations (no politics allowed) with your Torat Emet friends. We look forward to hearing from you.
If you need assistance in signing onto the WhatsApp Group please contact Rabbi Neuman at rabbineuman@toratemet.org .
