Mazel Tov to Jeffrey Schottenstein
I want to extend a very special Yashar Koach to Jeffrey Schottenstein and the Schottenstein family for endowing the Jeffrey Schottenstein Program for Resilience at The Ohio State University College of Medicine this past week. This program is being established at a time when so many individuals, especially young people, are struggling day to day with emotional pressures, anxiety, and uncertainty. The needs of these individuals are often overlooked and timely mental health support services unavailable when needed the most. This program is designed to meet those needs.
Maimonides understood this when he wrote, “The physician should do nothing before he improves the soul by attending to the extreme emotions.” Maimonides recognized that a healthy body and a healthy mind are equally important.
Our rabbis also understood the significance of the mind body connection when they wrote the Mi Shebayrach prayer for those who are ill. We pray that a person should have a refuah shelayma, a complete recovery which includes a r’fuat hanefesh ur’fuat haguf, a healing of the soul and the body.
Thank you, Jeffrey, for this very special and caring gift. May Hashem reward you for your efforts.
Rabbi Howard Zack

Congregation Torat Emet has partnered with the Columbus Jewish Film Festival to bring "American Birthright" to your virtual doorstep. This film is a provocative and inspiring documentary about one woman's journey to answer the question, "Why is my Judaism important to me?"
A pre-recorded interview with our very own Shira Neuman and the film director Becky Tahel is available November 4th through the 16th.
I highly recommend this film and if there is an interest in a follow up virtual conversation, we will arrange a time to discuss it.
Would you like to get real time Torat Emet notifications, hear about volunteer opportunities, and share cheerful tidings and thoughts with fellow Torat Emet members here and in Israel?
Have meaningful and uplifting social and informational conversations (no politics allowed) with your Torat Emet friends. We look forward to hearing from you.
If you need assistance in signing onto the WhatsApp Group please contact the Torat Emet office.
We pray for those who are sick, for everyone’s safety, and for a swift end to this plague.
