Passover Information & Tips from Rabbi Zack

Dear members and Friends,

I will be sharing a series of important 5780 Covid-19 Passover Tips and Information. Here is the first installation.

1. You can find every passover guide and a lot of koshering
   information at www.kashrut.com/Passover/
2. Rabbi Eliezer Eidlitz of kosherquest.org has made a home video
   this year in place of his annual market tours where he shares
   information about all of the products that are available without
   special certification, etc.  I have known Rabbi Eidlitz since entering
   the rabbinate in Oakland, CA.  He has been my kashrut rebbe and
   guru.  You can watch his presentation HERE    
3. Rabbi Hershel Schachter has declared this year a sha'at hadchak
   an emergency situation and therefore halachot that are usually
   bedieved, are now considered even a l'chatchitla [Laws that are
   usually only approved as "ok after the fact" are now fully permitted].
   In particular the use of boxed machine matza instead of hand
   shmura matza is allowed as long as it was made  l'sham matza
   [With the intent to fulfill the mitzvah of eating matza.  Rabbi Genack
   of the OU has affirmed that all OU matza fulfills this requirement.
4. You may use any unopened passover products from last year.
5. Many poskim have written that this year, even if your minhag
   (custom) is not to sell real chametz, you may and even should do
   so to ensure that you have food for after pesach and to save money.
6. I will be providing a special online authorization for the sale of
   chametz beginning next week.

Important Wexner Center Update

Beginning tomorrow, Friday March 20, the medical center will not be allowing any visitors at its hospital centers.  If you need to deliver any kosher food to patients, we will be able to help you arrange delivery.  Just contact the Torat Emet office and we will connect you with someone at OSU.

City of Bexley Needs & Volunteers Survey

The City of Bexley would appreciate your help in identifying those in need and willing volunteers during this COVID-19 crisis. If you are a Bexley resident, and are in need of assistance or are able to provide aid, please fill out the applicable survey (see below for links). Furthermore, please assist Bexley residents in completing the appropriate survey if they are unable to do so independently. Those who have already filled out the survey do not need to do so again. These surveys will also be available on Bexley’s website, social media, and included in the quarterly newsletter. High Street Synagogue

The High Street Community is a project sponsored by Jonathan and Nicole Schottenstein, and led by Rabbi Ari Neuman, for young professionals looking for meaningful Jewish experiences and fun ways to meet other young Jewish adults.  The program's goal is to help its participants learn about Judaism in a way that is exciting, enjoyable, open, and welcoming to others no matter their background.
