The Chevra Kadisha, literally “holy society” but often referred to as burial society, is the group of people that prepares the deceased for burial. Jewish law and tradition mandates that our loved ones are cared for in death with the same respect, compassion, and sensitivity that we would extend any living soul.
If you are interested in being a member of the Chevra Kadisha contact Rabbi Epstein or the shul. Performing a tahara called Chesed Shel Emet, the ultimate act of kindness, because it is done without any expectation of reward or thanks. |
