Main Street

Hope you didn’t “pass over” Main Street on Pesach!  We had enlightening learning, inspiring davening, and great company.  Our Guide for the Passover Perplexed answered all of your questions about Passover, including instructions for cleaning the kitchen (especially kashering the stove, oven, and sink), the form for selling chametz, guidelines for measurements of matzah and wine at the seder, information about quinoa, our full Pesach Schedule, and much more!

More people than ever took advantage of the opportunity to Kasher their utensils for Pesach on Sunday, March 17, 2013!  Printed instructions helped people prepare in order to have their utensils properly kashered on Hagolah Day.

Finally, we had a great showing from the High Street Synagogue group, who met for the Second Seder in the social hall.  With catering from Chris, divrei Torah from Rabbi Zack and Rabbi Unterman, and a great amount of engagement and fun from everybody in attendance, it was truly a night to remember.  We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

The Epsteins received the Nediv Lev (Giving Heart) Award for their years of service to Congregation Torat Emet and to the entire Jewish community of Columbus.

The dinner with friends and family was a lovely affair, featuring a delicious meal, ’60s music (Rabbi Epstein’s favorite), a slideshow of heartwarming pictures, personal well-wishes to the Eptseins from Rabbi Zack and Dr. Rosman, and very special addresses by our honorees.

We wish the Epsteins a heartfelt mazal tov for the many many years of that they have given to the Jewish community of Columbus and beyond!!  May they have many many more years of teaching, leadership, and success ad me’ah ve’esrim shanah - until 120 years!!!

Shabbat, Parshat Vayishlach

This Scholar in Residence was amazing! Torat Emet enjoyed a rare opportunity to welcome one of the great Modern Orthodox thinkers and leaders of our time.

Friday night dinner with Rabbi Riskin was really special!  Over a hundred people joined together for an enhanced Kabbalat Shabbat, a lovely meal, and fascinating lecture.

Rabbi Riskin honored our community with a number of lectures and conversations over the course of his stay.  He truly provided something for everybody.  Check out the schedule of his visit below!

Rabbi Riskin’s outstanding contributions to Israel and to the Jewish people over the course of his career have made him a leading voice of Jewry worldwide.  He is known for his innovative educational and social action programs.
