President’s Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Torat Emet!

My wife, Sara, and I joined this terrific shul in 2003, and we have loved every aspect of being part of it.

From religious services to social gatherings, from learning opportunities to life cycle events, and from engaging programming for all ages, everyone will gain from being a part of this outstanding community.

And this is because our members are always finding ways to give to each other and to our shul.  We support each other in times of celebration, and we take care of each other in times of need.  We are so proud of our active chessed committee, but we also have kiddush teams that prepare Shabbat kiddush and other meals for the community right here in the shul kitchens, and we volunteer to prepare mitzvah meals, to visit the sick, to help the Chevra Kadisha, and to provide home hospitality.  And our members welcome everyone who walks through our doors with the warm embrace of a loving family and an open bayit.

I invite you to come on over for a visit to see all this for yourself.  Join us for meaningful services, try out our wonderful classes, or participate in our excellent programs.

But most of all, introduce yourself to our caring and professional staff, and come meet our delightful members.  I’m sure they’ll make you feel right at home.

Sincerely yours,

Alan Shatz
President, Congregation Torat Emet

Alan and Sara Shatz joined our shul in 2003, and they have been major contributors to our congregation ever since.  Alan first took office as President in November 2011, and immediately set to work meeting with board and committee members, and setting an ambitious agenda to continue improving and refining our work as a shul.  We are all thankful for his balanced leadership.  Sara and Alan have two children, Tonia and Aaron, and Tonia and her husband, Jeff, have three children, Sofia, Meira, Reuven.
